Prepare custom audio tracks by joining fragments from movies and from MP3 files

Vidmex enables you to easily join (combine) multiple audio files. Unlike most other file mergers, Vidmex allows also to merge audio fragments from video and audio files. The program does not use a simple copy merge, but actually re-encodes the audio fragments, with options to change the output format, as well as format specific settings (bitrate, frequency, channels).
Vidmex supports many input formats: etc.

Actually, the possibility to merge audio fragments from video files is quite useful. If you have a lot of videoclips, mpeg2 movies, MPEG4 xvid movies, TV shows then you can merge audio fragments directly from these video files (you do not need to extract the whole audio streams, Vidmex quickly processes and merges just selected audio fragments). In this way you can combine speeches of your favorite actors, add cute sounds, merge original music from movies, TV shows with your own speech records or MP3 music files.

It would be a great idea to merge speeches from movies with nice sounds. A lot of FREE sound files with cool realistic effects can be found on these sites:
FindSoundsfree sounds search engine (Animals, Birds, Holidays, Household, Insects, Mayhem, Miscellaneous, Musical Instruments, Nature, Noisemakers, Office, People, Sports and Recreation, Tools, TV and Movies, Vehicles)
Free Sound Effectsfree sounds library (Radio, Weapons, Household, Animal, Sports, Television, Weather, People, Cartoon, Vehicles, Button, Sirens)
AltaVista search engine allows to find and download many full MP3 files, and pieces of popular songs:
AltaVista MP3/Audiofree MP3 search engine (finds web pages with links to MP3 files)
You can add video/audio files, video/audio fragments to Playlist and easily rearrange their order. With just a few mouse clicks, you can create and enjoy your own audio clips, combined from different media sources.

In this article, we will show you how to merge: 1) special WAV sound file  2) audio fragment from MPEG2 movie "Back to the Future II" (video recorded with Digital Satellite TV Receiver)  3) MP3 audio fragment

Step 1

Launch Vidmex, click Add File(s)... from File menu in Playlist:

Add your media files into Playlist by holding ctrl key (in our example: thunder.wav, bttf2.mpg, backfuture.mp3). Select the first file:

The first file is a sound effect, which we will add into Vidmex Wizard for subsequent merging. Click Add to Wizard from Operation menu.

The file will appear in Vidmex Wizard.

Step 2

Now, we will show you how to select a fragment from video file and to add it into Vidmex Wizard.

Double-click the second file in Playlist. Click the Play button. Use slider bar in order to set current position, or use hot keys on your keyboard: Alt+Right arrow and Alt+Left arrow. The Pause button (Win + X hot key) is very helpful for the purpose of suspending the video to select & estimate the best position.

Click the Begin button (to select the Start position of the fragment).

Next, click and drag the slider bar (time marker) to the right again or wait several seconds/minutes. Click the End button (to select the End position of the fragment).

The fragment will be added into Vidmex Wizard. You can also adjust values of Start/End here.

Step 3

Let's add 10 seconds from MP3 soundtrack into Vidmex Wizard.

Select the third file, click Set Playback Range... from Edit menu.

Set the Start/End values of the audio fragment: 00:00:00 - 00:00:10. Click Apply.

Playlist will be updated with new time values:

Add selected audio fragment into Vidmex Wizard. Click Add to Wizard from Operation menu.

The third fragment will be added into Vidmex Wizard.

Step 4

Finally, we will merge 3 fragments into one continuous MP3 file.

Click Merge Audio Fragments button.

Enter filename, choose path where file must be saved. Select format: MP3 (MPEG Layer-3).

Choose appropriate quality settings - frequency, bitrate, channels. Click Extract.

If you want to minimize file size (and decrease audio quality), then choose 11Khz or 22Khz.
If you want to keep the highest quality, then leave these settings unchanged.

Wait several seconds.

Excellent! We have merged 3 fragments: realistic thunder effect, audio fragment from video file and audio fragment from music file.

Click the blue button to play audio file right now, or click the link to download the file:
