Let's suppose we have one continuous MP3 or WAV file with many songs (an album or large audio mix). Sometimes it's necessary to shrink audio file or split it into several independent parts. In some cases, people associate favorite sounds from songs with many standard Windows events (configurable in Control Panel). Yes, there are many reasons to use this feature. Even for cutting fake segments in song.
Ok, in our example we will split one big MP3 file (Enigma.mp3 Length: 00:09:22) into three MP3 files.
00:00:00 - 00:02:12 The first song of Enigma - The dream of the dolphin.mp3
00:02:14 - 00:06:02 The second song of Enigma - Return to innocence.mp3
00:06:03 - 00:09:22 The third song of Enigma - Beyond the invisible.mp3
Step 1
Open audio file. Press Play button.
Wait until the first song will finish or change position of slider bar by holding left mouse button and dragging cursor (set current position to 00:02:12). Then, press END button.
Step 2
Vidmex Wizard will pop up. Here you can see one file with range (00:00:00 - 00:02:12). Press Audio Fragment button.
After that, type filename of the first song (in our example this is: Enigma - The dream of the dolphin. And then choose MP3 as output format. Press Next button.
All parameters are detected automatically. MPEG Layer-3 is usually default MP3 codec. And 44Khz 128Kbps is a reasonable quality.
Note, if you want to use 44Khz quality then download and install MP3 Audio Encoder .
Press Extract button.
Wait several seconds (or minutes). And press Done button when the process is finished.
Delete current item from Vidmex Wizard list (right-click on the list or press Delete key) and close the window.
Step 3
By using BEGIN/END buttons select the second fragment (00:02:14 - 00:06:02).
Again, in Vidmex Wizard press Audio Fragment button.
After that, type the name for the second file: Enigma - Return to innocence. Choose MP3 output format, press Next, Extract. And wait several minutes.
Step 4
By analogy: In order to extract the third song from file Enigma.mp3, select the range 00:06:03 - 00:09:22 with BEGIN/END buttons.
Press Audio Fragment, enter filename: Enigma - Beyond the invisible, choose MP3 output format, press Next, Extract and wait.
As you can see, with Vidmex you can quickly extract/split your audio files of any format (including ADPCM, MP3, WMA etc.). Even more! Also, all these steps can be used for Video Clips (for example, if you decided to split audio stream of video file into several audio files).
